Can we deal with crisis after crisis at the same time?
The entire world appears to be on the verge of collapsing. Our environment is deteriorating. Our leaders refuse to coexist and live in peace. A whirlwind of challenges, including scandalously uneven COVID recovery, record inflation, and the fallout from Russia's war in Ukraine, threatens to upend global food and energy markets, with significant implications for the global climate agenda.
Our plates are piled high, but our hearts are empty. Yet we continue to crave the never-ending consumerism that enslaves us to fossil fuels and the supply chain balancing act.
On top of all that, there is a communication breakdown. We are clearly losing our ability to interact as effectively as we once did. Communication is what allows us to be such a successful species. When this is lost on a large, interconnected scale, the entire system collapses.
