Luna was grown from the lines drawn by the co-creators at the AgLanta Eats event held at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on July 19th, 2018.

T he dawning of a new era in sustainable food is upon us as pioneers of agriculture redefine how we grow and distribute food around the world.

While the moonflower, Luna, represents the exciting advancements in indoor agricultural technologies, allowing us to grow 24/7, there are a variety of initiatives advancing on how we grow and distribute nutritious food to our neighborhoods.

Urban farms produce up to 15% of the world’s food. From fresh fish to produce and herbs, smart cities are building vertical farms in multi-story buildings and using soil alternatives to bring urban populations sustainable and locally-grown produce.

Groundwork Atlanta, the Atlanta Mayor's Office of Resilience, and the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District are teaming up with local growers to expand Atlanta's urban agriculture system.
