The journey beckons, yet fear shrinks us away from a full life. Fear of success prevents self-actualization and crushes the potential to live a purpose-driven life.
The “Jonah Complex”, credited to Abraham Maslow, explains this best as the fear of one's own greatness, the evasion of one's destiny, or the avoidance of exercising one's talents. The name comes from the story of the Biblical prophet Jonah's evasion of the destiny to prophesy the destruction of Nineveh.
We need to understand ourselves better. Some of our wants are on the other side of fear, and we often learn the hard way that things we fear are often all in our minds.
